George Stovall
Robert “George” Stovall grew up hunting and fishing the hills of West Virginia. The desire to serve his country, see more of the world, and the promise of a college education via the GI Bill enticed George to join the US Army in 1975. After a tour in Korea and some stateside assignments, George left the military to pursue his educational interests. He received a BS in Geology from the University of Montana in 1981, and a MS in Geophysics from Virginia Tech in 1984.
George had a full career in the oil industry. He began working for a major oil company. After a decade there, he moved to work for Meridian Oil/Burlington Resources. In 2007 George and a few of his colleagues/friends combined their talents and formed a small company which became known as Oasis Petroleum. In June, 2010, the Oasis management team rang the opening bell on the floor of the NYSE to celebrate the company’s listing (NYSE:OAS). The journey with CMO began in 2015 when the Stovall’s hosted their first CMO hunt. Events for 2018-2019 season are already planned. George and his wife Carrell split their time between Cypress, Texas and Llano, Texas. |
